New Creative Throwing

Four day pottery workshop

To benefit from this course a reasonable skill level on the potter's wheel is necessary. This is a 'making' workshop. Arrangements can be made to fire selected pots and forward them at an extra cost.

Programme:

We will focus on the wheel as a creative tool and explore the following areas:

  • Altering forms

  • Composite forms

  • Faceting and cutting clay

  • Making stamps

  • Decorating on the wheel

  • Textural clays

  • Tea bowls, teapots, bottle vase forms, lidded pieces etc.

  • Large-scale work

  • Critical review of work

  • Discussion and advice on future directions

  • Daily Schedule:

  • Workshop opens at 9.00 am and finishes at 5 pm each day.

The studio will be open every day until 8 pm for individual work.

Tea/Coffee breaks and lunches are included throughout the course. 5 - 8 students per course.

Note: Please bring an apron, a hand-towel and comfortable (old!) clothing.
