After graduating from the Limerick College of Art and Design in the
mid-seventies I spent many years teaching Art and Ceramics, mostly
in Dublin. see my CV
In 1993, I left Dublin to establish Glencairn Pottery in Lismore County.
Waterford, Ireland where I also run pottery courses with my wife Joan,
in a beautifully restored 19th century barn and traditional farmhouse.
There is a Gallery at the Pottery. Interested students are invited
to join the regular wood-firings as team members.
From 1999 to the present I have taught ceramics at the Limerick College of Art
and Design and the National College of
Art and Design. I am a member of Irish Contemporary
Ceramics. In 2001, I became a founder member of the Irish Wood,
Salt Fire Potters Group. In 2004 I was elected a
professional member of the Crafts Potters
Association UK. I am also a member of the German Potters
group Kalkspatz.
My work is mainly
wheel-thrown functional reduction stoneware which is decorated by
drawing, combing, stamping and faceting into the wet clay. Now add
The work is fired in one of two kilns, a catenary-arch gas fired
kiln and a three chambered wood-fire kiln.
