4 Day Wood-Fire for this year depends on demand. Please contact me if you are interested in this course to set a date.
In any case, I will be firing my anagama/naborigama this summer. You may be interested in joining the firing team and getting some of your pots in the kiln. Let me know if you are interested.
In the last ten years there has been a huge interest internationally in the
tradition of wood-fired ceramics. Now you can experience the atmosphere,
excitement and drama of wood-fire without the extended time commitment!
You will be firing, as a team, one chamber of my Naborigame / Anagama kiln.
The firing will be an ideal opportunity to gain hands-on experience and an
insight into the art of wood-firing.
Students will receive plans of the kiln construction and much practical advice
on kiln building, how to source wood, the siting of kilns and general good
practice.
Students are asked to bring up to 12 bisqued pots. I will advice you before
hand on what kind of clays to use. This course is suitable for students, keen
amateurs, hobby potters and professional potters. A basic level of ability is
required.
